If you are a regular commuter you want a dual channel dashcam. This will increase the chances of yielding license plate information as well as provide context for actions that were taken.
I’ve previously had a very expensive Blackvue camera and it was problematic in that when a warranty issue arose I had to ship it to South Korea and then wait three months without a dashcam. It was also VERY expensive. So I do not recommend Blackvue.
I’ve also had a Thinkware dashcam and the video quality on it was horrendous and nothing like advertised. So I will never recommend this brand.
Personally, I use a Redtiger F7N dashcam for multiple years now. It costs a little over $100 and when a warranty issue arose I received a replacement in a few days. I’ve received over $15,000 with it for incidents.
